Sex And The City Movie Review

Just got back from Sex And The City movie with my friends. Finally, the movie I've been anticipating for a long time... Michael Patrick King has done a good job of capturing the style and the theme of the popular series in the movie, reminding viewers that SATC has indeed come a long way, 6 seasons to be exact.

The designers and stylists have done great filling every scene with enough labels to make any fashionista drool. Carrie trying on the different wedding dresses for her princess wedding in the movie is every girl's dream come true, as we watched her put on the different gorgeous dresses from different labels. The last dress she tried on, a whipped-frosting Vivienne Westwood dress was indeed breath-taking. I could wear one like that for a few days and not get bored :)

My favorite character in the series, Samantha Jones, was her usual fabulous and funny self. She was hilarious in the scene where she lied naked on the table covered with sushi on some parts of her body waiting for boyfriend Smith Jared to get home. I was glad that the producers had retained her glossy, hyper-sexed style, and they had made her character a little softer, as we laughed at Samantha trying to resist the charms of the other men in the movie.

I would recommend this movie to people looking for a good romance and comedy movie and of course SATC fans. At 142 minutes, Sex and the City is more like a whole season worth of episodes strung together. For a series that is steeped on romance and friendship, the highly-awaited movie feels a tad half-hearted at times. Nonetheless, the fabulous four has managed to portray beautifully at times the power of love, friendship and emotions, and it was a pleasure for me watching the characters get reunited. This feel-good movie will make some of you laugh, cry, believe in love, treasure your friends a little better, so do catch it if you have the time. I'll give it 3.5 popcorns out of 5!
