The Talented Mr Ripley

Just finished watching The Talented Mr Ripley this afternoon, a powerful thriller that stars Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow. The scenery protrayed in the movie was breath-taking, ranging from locations in New York, Rome to Venice. The director has brillantly brought those romantic scenes, especially those shot in Italy, to life and I was blown away. Makes me want to tour Europe all the more. It has been my dream to tour Europe for a long time, well maybe not the whole of Europe because its simply too huge, but the romantic countries like France, Italy and Spain etc..

I was a bit disappointed at the way they downplayed Matt Damon's homosexualilty in the film. He was protrayed to be gay, yet there were no intimate scenes shown to carry the idea across, a rather cautious and deliberate attempt on the director's part I feel to reduce the critics or censorship. Otherwise, the movie would have been more powerful than it already is.

I'll end here.. Take care folks!
